On Tuesday March 12, Mauritius celebrated 51 years of independence from British Colonial rule. To mark the occasion, the country’s Ambassador to the United States, Sooroojdev Phokeer, hosted a diplomatic reception at City Club, in Washington DC, to reflect on long partnership between US and Mauritius. Partnership centered on protecting marine environments and growing economies for mutual benefit.
Ambassador Phokeer also used the moment to laud his country’s success since 1968. An island nation in the Indian Ocean with 1.30 million population, Mauritius is considered by many as a tropical paradise for foreign investments with a lot to do, thanks to Stable Democracy and Good Governance.
Attendees at the reception included representative from State Department, Ambassadors,  business leaders and guests interested in development in Mauritius. AlloAfricaNews
